Mid-Century Baumritter Dough Box Coffee Table
Mid-Century Baumritter Dough Box Coffee Table
Baumritter Furniture Company, later known as Ethan Allen, was founded in 1932 in Beecher Falls, Vermont. They became known for producing solid maple furniture with a distinct Early American or Colonial Revival style.
This particular style of coffee table, often referred to as a "dough box" table, features hinged compartments on either side, reminiscent of the dough-making troughs used in early American kitchens. The turned legs and scalloped aprons are also characteristic of the Colonial Revival aesthetic. These tables provided both a functional surface and hidden storage, making them a practical and stylish addition to living rooms, whether in the past or present.
This table came from a 94-year-old woman that bought it new. There is an old moving tag from when it was brought from the East Coast to Southern California in the 60s or 70s. Has some indentions in the top but overall, in really nice shape. Also have matching side tables listed here: Baumritter Doughbox Side Table Set – Repurposed Treasures, LLC
